Learning through the arts at Meridian Secondary School.
Our Applied Learning Programme in Aesthetics gives every Meridian opportunities to experience the arts, express ideas creatively and grow in confidence. Students encounter Media, Visual Art, Music, Dance and digital design through hands-on and authentic learning experiences.
Your ALP Journey
Tier 1 — Arts for Every Meridian
In Secondary 1 and 2, every student experiences a broad range of the arts. You will learn by doing — experimenting with ideas, making, performing and discovering new ways to communicate.
Make Something That Matters
The arts come alive when students create for a real place, purpose or audience. Through a collaborative mural-making experience, students learn new art-making techniques while contributing to our school environment.
Started by students and staff in 2026, the relief-tile mural continues to grow each year as every Secondary 1 cohort adds their own tiles and stories. Over time, the mural will reflect the many students and stories that make up the Meridian family.

Tier 2 — Take Your Interest Further
Students with strong interest and potential can take part in deeper experiences in the Visual and Performing Arts.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
Students may work with artists, arts practitioners, educational institutions and industry partners. These experiences connect what students learn in school with how creative work happens in the real world.
Through ALP in Aesthetics, students discover that the arts are more than subjects to study. They are ways to explore ideas, understand the world, connect with others and contribute to the community.
