Talent Development in Art at Meridian

At Meridian Secondary School, students with a strong interest and aptitude in Art can grow their talents through the Meridian Art Enrichment Programme (MAEP) in lower secondary and the MOE Enhanced Art Programme (EAP) in upper secondary.

As one of only nine secondary schools in Singapore offering the MOE Enhanced Art Programme (EAP), Meridian provides advanced opportunities for students to pursue their passion in Art. Together, MAEP and EAP form a developmental journey in which students explore widely, deepen their practice and grow as confident young artists and active contributors to Meridian’s arts culture.

Growing as an Artist

As students progress, they take increasing ownership of their learning and contribute more actively to the arts culture in the school.

Learning Through Art

Students learn by making, exploring and sharing Art in authentic settings. Key experiences include:

•  Artist-led workshops and sustained studio practice in areas such as ceramics, printmaking and painting;

•  Visits to museums and galleries;

•  Collaborative public-art projects that enhance the school environment;

•  Exhibitions and Open Calls where students create and present their own work; and

•  Opportunities to work with practising artists and learn about creative pathways.

Thinking Like an Artist and Designer

Design Thinking is woven through authentic projects as students investigate, generate ideas, experiment, make, seek feedback, refine and reflect. With increasing independence, they learn to make purposeful artistic decisions for real audiences and contexts.

Contributing to Meridian’s Arts Culture

Students help shape Meridian’s arts culture through public artworks, exhibitions and collaborative projects. As they progress, they take increasing responsibility as artists, curators, communicators and leaders.

Key Experiences & Future-Ready Competencies

Through these experiences, students develop Inventive and Adaptive Thinking while gaining authentic exposure to artists, creative practices and pathways. As they progress, they take increasing ownership of their artistic practice and contribution to Meridian’s arts culture.
